President Droupadi Murmu Travels In Delhi Metro, Flag-Off Shuttle Bus Services To Amrit Udyan (Image: X/@rashtrapatibhvn)
President Droupadi Murmu engaged with school children during a metro ride in Delhi on Wednesday. Also, shuttle bus service between Central Secretariat Metro Station (Gate 4) and Amrit Udyan (Gate 35) was inaugurated by President Murmu. The service will run every 30 minutes from 9.30 am to 5:00 pm for guests visiting Amrit Udyan.
In a post shared on X, Rashtrapati Bhavan informed, “President Droupadi Murmu travelled in Delhi Metro and interacted with school children during the ride”. While interacting with the students she asked about their aspirations and plans, the officials said.
With a mobility card in hand, this is the first time she travelled via the popular transit system since she came to the President office. Murmu used an NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) RuPay card to undertake the journey. She took the Metro at the Central Secretariat metro station on the Kashmere Gate- Raja Nahar Singh Violet Line and travelled up to the Nehru Place metro station, and then came back to Central Secretariat.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Managing Director, Vikas Kumar, also accompanied the President during the travel. In the visitor’s book President, commented and called her journey pleasant and praised the Delhi Metro as one of the most modern and efficient mass transportation systems in the world today.
President Murmu also launched shuttle bus linking Central Secretariat Metro and Amrit Udyan at Rashtra Pati Bhavan. It spreads over a vast expanse of 15 acres, Amrit Udyan has often been portrayed, as the soul of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to the official information, originally, the Udyan included East Lawn, Central Lawn, Long Garden and Circular Garden. Presidents Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Shri Ram Nath Kovind terms seen the expansion of more gardens, after inclusion of, Herbal-I, Herbal-II, Tactile Garden, Bonsai Garden and Arogya Vanam.
Udyan Utsav 2024 is India’s flowering extravaganza at Amrit Udyan and it is opened for public from Feb 2nd, 2024 to March 31st, 2024.
