Kamal Haasan, actor and leader of Makal Needhi Maiam(MNM) came out on Thursday expressing his support to Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Udhayanidhi Stalin on his comments on Sanata Dharma and said junior Stalin is entitled to his view.
“If you disagree with his viewpoint, it is important to engage in a discussion based on the merits of Sanatana instead of resorting to threats of violence or legal intimidation tactics, or distorting his words to evoke emotional responses for narrow political gains”, Kamal Haasan posted on X.

Udhayanidhi’s comment on Sanatana have stirred a national political debate, several political leaders and notable figures from all over the country have come either supporting or arguing against his remark.

It has been reported that several cases are being filed against Udhayanidhi on his controversial statement. And recently a self-proclaimed seer announced bounty on the minister’s head.
The Tamil Nadu Minister himself came forward clarifying his statement; “I never called for the genocide of people who are following Sanatan Dharma. Sanatan Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion. Uprooting Sanatan Dharma is upholding humanity and human equality”, he wrote on X.

Kamal Haasan highlighted that Tamil Nadu has always been a space for healthy debates and will always continue to remain so.
“Tamil Nadu has always been a safe space for healthy debates, and it will continue to remain so. It is crucial to critically evaluate our traditions, ensuring inclusivity, equality, and progress. Let”s embrace constructive discussions to foster a harmonious and inclusive society”, he added.
Tamil Nadu Prime Minsiter M K Stalin posted on X on Thursday clarifying the statement of Udhayanidhi and alleged that the BJP is trying to divert attention from the real issues.
