Congress continues to unleash its scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi”s OBC remark. Shaktisinh Gohil, Congress Rajya Sabha MP, claimed that during a Modi community meeting held in Mumbai, its members said that “a Modi super upper caste become the Chief Minister of Gujarat.” According to Gohil, the then chief minister was referred as a member from ‘super upper caste’.

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi launched an attack on the Prime Minister amid the Opposition’s call for a caste census in the country. The Congress leader asked why PM Modi identified himself as OBC when he considered ‘rich’ and ‘poor’ as the only caste in the country.

Supporting Rahul’s statement, Gohil alleged that Narendra Modi has never said that he belongs to Ganchi or any backward caste. Referring to him as ‘super upper caste’, regular advertisements were published in magazines which Modi has never denied, he further added.

The Congress MP after listing all the points, stated that “PM Modi is neither a Ghanchi, nor a Teli, nor from a backward caste”.

Rahul Gandhi”s comment against Modi came as the opposition continued to corner the Centre on the topic of caste census. Meanwhile, the BJP on Thursday responded to Rahul’s remark by sharing the gazette notification. In the post, it stated that Modh Ganchi was notified as OBC in 1999 two years before Narendra Modi became the chief minister of Gujarat.

“This is a blatant lie. PM Narendra Modi”s caste was notified as an OBC on Oct 27, 1999, a full 2 years BEFORE he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat…The entire Nehru-Gandhi family, starting from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, have been against OBCs,” BJP IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya wrote on X.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his speech in Odisha claimed that PM Modi was born in general caste but changed his caste to OBC after becoming the CM of Gujarat. “PM Modi was not born in the OBC category. He was born in the Teli caste in Gujarat,” he said.
