A 24-year-old trainee attendant of Air India was found dead in a Mumbai flat with her throat slit. The body was found at the flat located at N G Complex, Krishanlal Marwah Marg, Near Tata Power Centre Bus Station in Marol, Andheri.
Mumbai police had registered a murder case and have detained a housekeeper within hours of the crime. The accused 40 year old man works as a sweeper in the society. The police have registered an FIR under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder), the official said.
The deceased Rupal Ogrey, native of Chhattisgarh have come to Mumbai in April for training with Air India, officers said. She lived with her sister and boyfriend, but the two were away when the murder took place. The two had left to their native place eight days back.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalavde said, “Her throat was slit with a sharp weapon. We have sent the body to the hospital for postmortem. Prima facie, the doctors have not said anything about sexual assault. We are investigating the case from all possible angles.”
According to the police, Rupal’s family was not able to contact her over the phone on Sunday. The family informed her friends. They found the flat locked from inside and none responded to the doorbell. Later they unlocked the door using a duplicate key with the help of the police. Ms Ogley was found lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead before admission.
