Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Sunday that he would resign after two days and would demand early polls in Delhi as he had vowed not to sit in the CM’s chair until the people give him a “certificate of honesty”.
This surprising decision of the chief minister has left everyone wondering who will next take up the CM seat. Kejriwal, who was released from Tihar jail on Friday in the excise policy corruption case, said, “I will only sit in CM’s chair after people give me a certificate of honesty”.

AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Raghav Chadha met Arvind Kejriwal at his residence on Monday to discuss the probables for the Delhi Chief minister’s post.
Though assembly polls are due in February next year, Kejriwal yesterday demanded the election to be held in November along with the Maharashtra polls. Even though the chief ministerial stint will just last for a few months, the AAP leadership would be looking to choose a prominent leader to take up the chair.
Here are the names of a few leader who can make the cut
- Atishi
Delhi minister Atishi has been holding key portfolios such as education and PWD. An Oxford University alumnus and a Rhodes scholar, Ms Atishi is one of the key contenders. The 43-year-old became a minister after Sisodia was arrested in a corruption case linked to Delhi’s now-scrapped liquor policy.
When both major leaders of the party, Kejriwal and Sisodia went behind the bar, Atishi articulated the party’s position.
- Sunita Kejriwal
Though there were no official announcements regarding Sunita taking up the role, PTI quoting sources said that she could be a potential candidate for replacement in the post. When Kejriwal was arrested, Sunita played a crucial role in the AAP’s campaigning for the recent Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, Gujarat and Haryana. Sunita Kejriwal is a former IRS officer.
