3-Stage Exam For 562 UP Assistant Professor Posts

Appointments for the Assistant Professor post in 171 government colleges in Uttar Pradesh will be done through a three-stage entrance examination process. As per the reports, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is set to announce the recruitment notification for 562 assistant professor vacancies in 23 subjects.

Earlier, the commission proposed to conduct a two-level entrance exam – screening test with 75% of the weightage and a personality test with 25% of the weightage. The exam will have three stages – Screening test, Subject Specific Main Examination, and the interview stage.

Reportedly, the new proposal has received the government’s assent, and the recruitment notice for over 500 posts will be issued soon. Following the non-confirmation over the examination pattern, the delay occurred even after the vacancies existed.

The last recruitment for Assistant Professor posts was held in October 2020 for 128 vacancies in 19 subjects. The final selection was based on the marks obtained in the interview (personality test) and the marks of the screening test were not counted for the final selection.

As per the reports, Higher Education Directorate has sent an online recruitment notice to the UPPSC for 562 posts in 23 subjects. The highest number of vacancies (65) are in commerce subject.

The distribution of seats in other different subjects is as follows: English (47), Sociology (43), Chemistry (41), Hindi (41), Economics (37), Botany (33), Zoology (33), Mathematics (33), Physical Edcuation (33), Chemistry (29), History (23), Geography (22), Home Science (20), Psychology (17), Sanskrit (17) and Physics )14), Education (6), Urdu (1), Music Vocal (1), Statistics (1), Computer Science (1) and Persian (1).
