PM Internship Scheme Receives Over 1.5 Lakh Registrations Within 24 Hours After Launching

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme has recorded over 1.5 lakh applications within 24 hours of its launch on October 12, 2024. The PM Internship Scheme was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in this year’s budget. It aims to provide internship opportunities to 1 crore youth across 500 top companies.

Eligible candidates can register on the portal – pminternship.mca.gov.in -from October 12 onwards and the companies share shortlisted entries from October 27 to November 7. The candidates will be allowed to accept offers from November 8 to November 15 and the internship commences on December 2, 2024.

Candidates from the age group of 21-24 and not employed full-time or studying full-time are eligible to register on the portal. The scheme will offer a stipend of Rs 4,500 per month from the government which will be transferred directly to the candidate’s bank account along with an additional Rs 500 from the company’s CSR funds.

Also, the interns will get insurance coverage under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana by the Government of India.

Those who have passed high school, or higher secondary school, with a certificate from an ITI, hold a diploma from a polytechnic institute, or graduate with degrees such as B.A., B. Sc., B. Com, BCA, BBA, B. Pharma are eligible to apply for the internship.

The portal saw an equal enthusiasm from youth and the companies also. As soon as the portal went live nearly 111 companies signed up and offered 1077 vacancies for interns under the given scheme.

Top companies such as Maruti Suzuki, JSW, Reliance, Cognizant, Axis Bank, PFC, NPCIL, Muthoot Finance, etc will provide opportunities for the interns to learn and get prepared for the job sectors.
