The government is expecting to provide on-the-job training on factory shop floors to nearly 1 lakh unemployable youth from economically weaker sections by December 2, 2024. The initiative is under a pilot project of the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme in Top Companies. Reportedly, The portal to match employers with interns went live on Thursday.
As per the information available as many as 111 companies had signed up and offered 1077 vacancies for interns under the given scheme. The candidates can sign up on the portal – pminternship.mca.gov.in to be considered for the internship program. As per the Ministry of Corporate Affairs reports, the portal is likely to be opened on Vijaya Dashmi on October 12.

Candidates who belong to the age group of 21 to 24 years will be eligible to apply under the given opportunity.
According to the reports, the learning from the pilot project will be used to modify the scheme’s features and it can be further scaled up for full-fledged rollout, after getting approval from the Cabinet.
The portal went live on Thurday afternoon and within hours of the portal going live, major corporates such as the Mahindra and Mahindra group, Max Life Insurance and Alembic Pharma, volunteered to offer internships under the scheme. The locations of internships offered so far, cover seven districts in the four States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Telangana.
