UPSC To Notify Institutions Of Recruitment Alerts Via Email

To streamline public service hiring and reduce eligible candidates missing opportunities, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started a new email alert system for institutions. Educational and professional bodies across India can now subscribe to receive timely notices about relevant UPSC recruitment advertisements via email.

The initiative was announced on August 5, 2025, and introduced by the UPSC chairman Dr Ajay Kumar, who described it as a strategic step towards creating awareness, improving participation, and reducing the number of vacant posts due to low or ineligible applicant pools.

UPSC every year conducts over 200 recruitment proposals from different ministries and departments of the central government, including Group A and Group B gazetted positions in various sectors such as medical, education, engineering, finance, legal, forensic audit, and other technical specialisations.

Despite broad advertisement through employment news, the official website, and its LinkedIn account, the commission has observed significant disparities in applicant turnout.

According to the UPSC Director, several positions receive very few or no suitable applications. In some cases, the commission does not find a suitable candidate due to gaps in qualifications or experience. This has led several posts to remain vacant or be declared infructuous.

Institutions can become part of the mailing list by requesting via email to ra-upsc@gov.in with the subject line: “Subscription Request – UPSC Recruitment Alerts”. Once registered, institutions will get timely updates after the recruitment advertisements are published.
