Olympic Boxing Legend Mary Kom Issues Apology, Clarification Over Viral Remarks On Ex-Husband
Olympic boxing legend Mary Kom has released a clarification video after her recent remarks about her former husband, Onler Kom, sparked backlash on social media.
The six-time world champion apologized to those who felt hurt in her comments during the interview in the video clarification issued by the boxing champion. She said that her comments were misunderstood and taken out of context, underlining that she never intended to offend anyone, create division, or promote negative thinking.

During the interview, Mary Kom had accused her husband of financial fraud, accusing him of taking loans and mortgaging her property, which all Onler Kom has denied all the allegations leveled against him.
Mary Kom, was married to Onler Kom for over 20 years, and the couple’s divorce news surfaced in 2025, as a huge shock for many. Both Mary Kom and Onler remained mum about the reasons.

Onler had responded to Mary Kom’s accusation, saying that the boxing legend was having multiple affairs during the course of their marriage. He alleged that Mary first had an affair in 2013 with a junior boxer, and he has proof of that. “Our families had a fight, and after that, we compromised,” Onler said, adding that since 2017, she’s been having another relationship with someone working at the Mary Kom Boxing Academy.
“I have their WhatsApp messages as proof. I have proof, with the name of the person with whom she was having an affair. I remained silent. She wanted to stay alone and have another relationship. We’re divorced. I don’t mind if she wants to have another husband. But don’t ever blame me. And if she’s to blame me, bring the proof; get the papers. I know where she lives and with whom,” Onler said.
The issue had created significant anger against the boxing champion on social media platforms.
