Rahul Gandhi Raises UP's Recruitment Issue, Says Congress Policies Would Address Concerns

Taking a swipe at the Uttar Pradesh government”s lacklustre attitude towards the recruitment drive and the youth’s needs, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today took to the social media platform X, (formerly Twitter) and wrote that every third of the state”s youth is suffering from unemployment diseases. Sharing a picture of the candidates standing in long queues at a railway station, Rahul Gandhi said more than 1.5 lakh government posts are vacant in Uttar Pradesh as graduates, postgraduates and PhD holders are standing in line even for the posts with minimum qualification.

Talking about complexities in the system and noting how the students are getting exhausted, Mr Gandhi said, “First of all, getting the recruitment done is a dream, if the recruitment is done then the paper is leaked, if the paper is given then the result is not known and even after the result comes after a long wait, one often has to go to the court for joining.”

Mr Gandhi further said that lakhs of students are becoming overage waiting for years for recruitments from Army to Railways and Education to Police. Mr Gandhi then highlighted that the student trapped in this “maze of despair” is falling prey to “depression”.

The Congress leader further noted that when the students distressed by the government’s indifferent moves raise their voices against the authorities, they get batons from the police, Mr Gandhi said.

The Congress leader assured the youths saying that the policies of the party would do justice to them. “We will not let their penance go in vain,” Rahul Gandhi wrote, stressing that the job is not just a source of income but a dream to change a whole family.

The candidates are protesting in Uttar Pradesh, wth staging a sit-in strike outside the residence of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh last week over the teacher recruitment controversy. The protesters are demanding appointment to the more than 6,800 vacant positions.

Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had criticized the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath, accusing his government of involving in a scam in teacher recruitment.
