The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Preliminary results 2024 today, July 1, 2024. Candidates can find the detailed pdf file carrying the roll numbers of the candidates qualifying for the exam from the UPSC official website – upsc.gov.in.

The UPSC CSE 2024 prelims examination was held on June 16, 2024, followed by the UPSC inviting the challenges to the questions. The exam is held to test the eligibility of aspirants for Indian Administration Services (IAS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Indian Police Services, and other Group A and Group B services. The Civil Services Examination is conducted in three stages – Preliminary, Mains (written), and the Personal Interview stage.

This year UPSC invited applications to a total of 1,056 posts to fill vacancies under various government departments.

The UPSC CSE preliminary exam comprises two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1, which is General studies plays a major role in the selection of the candidates as paper 2 or CSAT is only qualifying in nature. However, last year’s CSAT paper was reportedly tough and played a major role in the final result. To qualify the paper 2, a candidate has to secure at least 33 percent marks. The maximum mark is 400. Notably, the examination carries negative marking and 1/4th mark is deducted for wrong answers.

Step 1: Visit the UPSC official website – upsc.gov.in.

Step 2: Click on the link UPSC CSE result 2024 available on the home page.

Step 3: Click on submit and the result pdf will be displayed.

Step 4: Check the result carefully and look for the roll number, Download and Save or Print Out.

7:15 PM, July 1, 2024, UPSC CSE 2024 Live: Expected Cut off

As per the reports from students and coaching institutes, this year paper 1 or general studies expects to play a key role in the result. Last year the cut-off in UPSC CSE 2023, was remained at 75.41 for unreserved category and varied for other categories.

According to the official notification, “Candidates are also informed that marks, cut off marks and answer keys of CS (P) Examination, 2024 will be uploaded on the Commission’s website i.e. https://upsc.gov.in only after the entire process of the Civil Services Examination, 2024 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024 is over i.e. after the declaration of final result”.

7:20 PM, July 1, 2024, UPSC CSE 2024 Live: UPSC CSE Main Exam in September

UPSC CSE Prelims results, will advance to the mains round, consist of a written exam and a personality test. The written test will be administered in the Semptember.

As per the official notification, ” In accordance with the Rules of the Examination, all these candidates have to apply again in the Detailed Application Form-I (DAF-I) for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2024. The dates and important instructions for filling up of the DAF-I and its submission will be announced in due course on the website of the Commission.”
