UPSC CSE 2024 Preliminary Examination On June 16: Last Minute Tips

On June 16, 2024, lakhs of candidates will appear for the most coveted examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2024. The UPSC CSE is considered one of the toughest exams in India.  The e-admit cards have been issued by the commission on its official website – upsc.gov.in. Candidates can download it using their login credentials including application number and date of birth.

The examination will be held in two sessions, the forenoon session will commence at 9 am and the afternoon session will be held at 2 pm. All the exam-related instructions are given on the e-admit cards and the candidates are advised to read them carefully.

As we know the exam is tough and the competition is high, candidates study for the entire year to appear for the exam. However, the last few days play a crucial role in deciding the selection of candidates. Sometimes, candidates with moderate preparation can get inside the list while those who prepare extensively may find themselves out of the list. Timeline reached out to UPSC CSE experts, Syed Wafi Akhter, faculty at IAS Baba, and Viraj Rane, faculty at GS SCORE, New Delhi for the last-minute tips for the preliminary examination. Here, are some last-minute tips for the candidates to increase their chances of selection.

Do not go for any new topic

During the last minute of the preparation, never opt for studying any new topic instead revise what you have already studied. The chances of remembering something new at the last moment are few.

Revision is the key

The best thing to follow at the last moment is to revise. The more you revise the more clarity you develop about the subject which enhances the chance to select the correct option. The most important thing while revising is to finish the important chapters first.

Do not try to cover everything at the last moment

Most of the candidates’ biggest mistake is grabbing everything at the last moment. Rather aspirants must remain calm and positive and try to revise things that are possible at the last moment. Never go for everything. You can choose topics wisely for the last few days.

Have Cofidence 

The key to success is confidence. Aspirants must have confidence in their hard work and preparation. Always believe in your action and stay calm and positive during the last few days. Wafi Akhter, faculty at IAS BABA says to have confidence in oneself that will increase performance drastically

Relax and give time to yourself

For the last moment the most wise thing is not to read and revise extensively. Instead aspirants should give time to themselves to revise and do mindreadings to find out some topics that they can select for the revision at the last moment.

Solve mock test papers

Apart from doing revision, aspirants can also opt for solving mock test paper for the last days. The paper solving is a light exercise that can help candidates to revise things along with practicing.
