On April 16, yesterday, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the Indian Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023 result. UPSC notified the list of selected candidates” names and their roll numbers. A total of 1016 candidates have been recommended by the commission for various services in the central government. Generally, the top 70-80 rankers get into Indian Administrative Services (IAS) followed by Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Indian Police Services (IPS), and other services.

In the UPSC CSE 2023 list, the top 5 ranks are clinched by Aditya Srivastava (AIR 1), Animesh Pradhan (AIR 2), Ananya Reddy (Air 3), PK Siddhartha Ramkumar (AIR 4) and Ruhani (AIR 5). As the result was declared people including friends, relatives, and media flocked to congratulate the toppers. Here are some excerpts from what these toppers shared after learning about their success.

Aditya Srivastava (UPSC CSE 2023: AIR 1)

Aditya Srivastava, who secured the first position in the Civil Services Examination hails from Lucknow Uttar Pradesh. He is an Alumnus of IIT Kanpur and obtained a degree in B.Tech electrical engineering from the prestigious institute. Aditya secured 216th rank in last year”s UPSC CSE 2022 exam and is under training at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.

Sharing a post on X he expressed his gratitude towards those who helped him cover this journey. While talking to the ANI he said that he could not believe securing rank 1 in the exam. Though he was expecting to come into the top 70 this time to get the IAS. He said, “It was a bit difficult to sink in but after that I was ecstatic. I was not expecting Rank 1, I was praying to God to get into the top 70, so that I can get into Indian Administrative Services.” Emphasizing the power of consistency and hard work along with smart work, Aditya added, “I would just say that being consistent and hard work along with smart work is the key to doing whatever you want to achieve and the same holds well for this field as well…”.

Animesh Pradhan (UPSC CSE 2023: AIR 2)

Animesh Pradhan, a native of Odisha’s Angul district, graduated from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in computer science. He is currently positioned as an Information System Officer with public sector Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The 22-year-old graduate success seems incomplete to him without his parents as he lost his mother last month to cancer. While talking to NDTV, Pradhan said, “My preparation was very challenging. During my preparation, my mother was going through cancer treatment. She passed away last month. She was my inspiration and had supported me all through her life. She is not around”. A few years back he had also lost his father.

While talking with Chahal Academy he said, “I did not expect AIR 2 at all. I have dreamt of it. Now I want to work towards the education, and health needs of Odisha at the grassroots. The service is going to give me a more purposeful and meaningful life. Health disease, women empowerment, and education and Socio-economic development of Odisha particularly and the country in general is something, Animesh wants to focus on while remaining in service.

Donuru Ananya Reddy (UPSC CSE 2023: AIR 3)

The 22-year graduate from Miranda House, Delhi University, cracked the coveted exam successfully on her first attempt. According to Ananya service to the people had been the major motivational factor for her to prepare for the UPSC CSE.

Talking to the ANI Ananya Reddy said that she prepared for two full years however this was her first attempt. She added, “I feel extremely happy and grateful that I have been able to achieve this rank on my first attempt. I want to do service to the people. That spirit of public service acted as a source of motivation throughout the journey.”

PK Sidharth Ramkumar (UPSC CSE 2023: AIR 4)

PK Sidharth Ramkumar, a graduate in Architecture from Kerala University in August 2019, has secured an All-India Rank (AIR) 4 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 and belongs to Kerala. This was his fourth attempt. In his last attempt, he clinched rank 121 and is currently undergoing IPS training in Hyderabad. Before being selected for IPS, he joined the Indian Telecommunication Service. He improved his rank last year but continued to be in the IPS.

Ruhani (UPSC CSE 2023: AIR 5)

Ruhani from Gurugram (Haryana) has cracked UPSC with AIR 5. She completed her graduation in economics from St. Stephen”s, Delhi University, and a Master”s in economics from IGNOU. Ruhani then joined the Indian Economics Service and worked for three years. She has also worked with the NITI Ayog for 2 years. Currently, she has been under training in the Indian Police Services.
