Kerala Rains: Holiday For Educational Institutions In These Five Districts

As heavy rains continuing in many parts of Kerala and weather agencies have predicted no respite, district administrations in five districts have declared holiday for educational institutions on Friday (August 2). School and other educational institutes, including professional colleges, will be closed on August 2 in Kasargod, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode districts.

Kannur district administration in a social media post said the examinations which were scheduled earlier will be held without any change.

“There will be no change in the previously scheduled public examinations and university examinations.
Heads of educational institutions should take action to compensate for the study time lost due to holidays,” Kannur district collector said.

Kozhikode Collector has also informed the general public to rely only on official sources for monsoon warnings, and in case of emergency, the administration asked the public to use toll free number 1077.

In Thrissur district as well, ongoing rain, storms, and waterlogging have led authorities to extend the rain warning. As a precautionary measure to avoid potential disasters, all schools in the district are currently being used as relief camps. “The District Administration has declared a holiday for tomorrow, August 2, for all educational institutions. This includes Anganwadis, nurseries, central schools, CBSE, ICSE schools, professional colleges, tuition centers, and residential institutions,” the administration said. In this district as well, interviews and examinations which were scheduled earlier will also be held as per plan.
