Kerala To Launch Its First Industrial Park Exclusively For Women Entrepreneurs, Says Industrial Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Kerala industrial minister P Rajeev has announced that the state government will set up a ‘Women’s Industrial Park’, exclusively for women entrepreneurs. The first such project in the history of Kerala, the establishment of the female industrial park, aims to take women entrepreneurs to the “next level of growth.”

Women entrepreneurs are increasingly coming forward in large numbers. Notably, a total of 31 percent of the entrepreneurs registered as part of the Year of Entrepreneurship are women, the minister noted in a social media post.

He pointed out that the government has also amended important rules to encourage women entrepreneurs, providing the facility to start up to 50% of the households in the panchayats. The minister observed that over 100% of the businesses can be started in vacant houses, and the government will also ensure skill development for the entrepreneurs.

The minister also assured that the financial assistance to participate in the exhibition will be provided and the products of the entrepreneurs will also be exported abroad. ‘The government will also make efforts to encourage women entrepreneurs to use e-commerce platforms to activate the online market,’ Rajeev wrote on X.

The minister had talked about the ambitious project while inaugurating the Kerala Women Entrepreneurs’ Conclave, 2025, in Thrissur on Tuesday.

Talking about the project, the minister said that women now constitute 31 per cent of the total entrepreneurs registered during the Year of Entrepreneurship.

The Industries Department in Kerala has launched ‘Mission 1000’ – an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming 1,000 MSMEs into enterprises with an annual turnover of Rs 1 crore each. So far, 444 enterprises have been selected under this mission.
