“Let Us Unite . . .”: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan On Karl Marx’s Death Anniversary

Edited by Kabani R

Today, March 14 marks the 140th death anniversary of German political philosopher Karl Marx. Paying tribute to the father of Marxism, Kerala Chief Minister and CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan said that to honour his legacy, all should unite in the fight to perceive a socialist future.

Remembering Karl Marx, the Chief Minister wrote on X handle that in an age of rapid technological development, heightened exploitation of poor, and dangerous rise of far-right choices, all should “reaffirm” the lasting importance of Marx and Marxism.

“In tribute to his legacy, let us unite in the ongoing fight to realise a socialist future,” Chief Minister tweeted. Marx’s political writings are well-known; His work The Communist Manifesto, co-authored with Friedrich Engels is considered as the manifesto of the communist parties worldwide.

At present, Kerala is the only state ruled by a Communist party government. CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) is in power in the southern state since 2016.
