3-3: Congress, National Conference Ink Deal For Jammu And Kashmir, Ladakh

INDIA alliance partners Congress and National Conference will contest the elections together on 6 seats of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.

Congress candidates will contest on 3 seats and National Conference candidates on 3 seats.

“We are confident that the INDIA alliance will win these 6 seats,” National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said in a press conference.

While Congress has been allocated Udhampur, Jammu and Ladakh Lok Sabha seats, the National Conference will contest from Anantnag, Baramulla and Srinagar Lok Sabha seats.

Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid said while the Mehbooba Mufti”s PDP is part of the INDIA bloc, “seat adjustment is a different thing”. Mufti is contesting from Anantnag-Rajouri seat.

Jammu and Kashmir has five constituencies while Ladakh has one. The Lok Sabha polls in the Union Territory will be held in the first five phases on April 19 (Udhampur), April 26 (Jammu), May 7 (Anantnag-Rajouri), May 13 (Srinagar) and May 20 (Baramulla).

Whereas the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election is expected to be held after the Lok Sabha polls.
