Asaduddin Owaisi's Appeal To Vote For Congress Candidates In Telangana (Image: OneEyeArt)
Amidst the Congress leadership still echoing their allegations of “BJP”s B-Team” on him and his party AIMIM, in a party meeting ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, Asaduddin Owaisi has asked his followers and general public to vote to defeat BJP, particularly naming some Congress candidates. In a significant shift from what was his stand during the recently concluded Assembly elections, he said that the current elections are not about “Mamu” (KCR of BRS) and it is about defeating Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the assembly elections, it was reported that AIMIM had under the table arrangements with BRS.
In his speech, he pointed at some Congress candidates (without naming them) and asked his party members to vote for them, which included the Congress candidates from Secunderabad, Nizamabad and Chevella.
“This is not an election about Mamu (KCR of BRS), it is an election to defeat Modi. Make sure Mottu (Congress” Danam Nagender) in Secunderabad, “Safed Baal” (Congress” T Jeevan Reddy) in Nizamabad and “Dubala” (Congress” Gaddam Ranjith Reddy) in Chevella are winning… Do you understand?,” he is heard asking in a video posted on his Twitter handle.
“Kite (his party symbol) in Hyderabad and BJP finished in Telangana. Majlis members (AIMIM) and the public should vote to defeat BJP in Mahbubnagar, Chevella, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad,” he added.

Congress has fielded Mohammed Waliullah Sameer in Hyderabad which is already seeing high-octane campaigning with the presence of AIMIM’s sitting MP Owaisi and BJP’s Madhavi Latha.
It was on Thursday, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra attacked Asaduddin Owaisi and said that he is working directly with the BJP and wherever BJP needs him to field someone to push back other parties, he is doing it.
“…I am telling you again and again. Asaduddin Owaisi is working directly with the BJP. Wherever the BJP needs him to field someone to push back other parties, he is doing it. It has become very clear in Telangana elections,” she said while addressing the press as she was campaigning for Rahul Gandhi in Rae Bareli.
But the Hyderabad MP came back heavily on Priyanka mentioning the Amethi defeat of Rahul Gandhi and asked: “Priyanka Gandhi Vadra… your brother lost Amethi. Did I come and fight there? In Maharashtra, you have an alliance with Uddhav Thackeray. Is he secular? This is the same Shiv Sena whose workers, on December 6, destroyed the Babri Masjid. Are you with them?”.
