BJP Nominates Incumbent Gajendra Patel For Khargone Constituency (Photo on Facebook)

Born in Barwani, Madhya Pradesh in 1974,  Gajendra Patel has been in politics right from his studenthood. He has held several portfolios in Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the BJP’s student wing . He completed his L.L.B. from Christian College Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Elected for the first time to Lok Sabha in 2019, Mr Patel has got the second nomination to his sitting Khargone constituency when the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Mr Patel has shown his total assets as six crore. The BJP MP declares himself as a businessman working as a petrol dealer and farmer.

He has worked in various affiliated organisations and served as the president of Scheduled Tribe Morcha in 2019 in Khargone district. However, from a tribal leader to the parliament, Mr Patel’s second term ticket shows the party’s trust in his electoral performance in the Scheduled Tribe constituency

The constituency has been one of the tightly contested seats in Madhya Pradesh. In 2019, despite emerging victorious, the BJP”s vote share got shrunk while the Congress had a better performance compared to 2014. He enjoy support among a section of the farmers with his continuous grassroot engagement.

Mr Patel has also triggered controversy when he made a statement while addressing a gathering in the Khargone district. The MP was seen saying that they would answer with bricks if someone pelts stones, after the alleged stone-pelting incident following the Ram Navami procession in Khargone district. With his ticket announced, supporters gathered around his office, distributed sweets and burst fireworks. As per reports, Mr. Patel seemed confident about his second nomination from the Khargone constituency.
