SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad won the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat by securing 5,54,289 votes. He defeated  incumbent BJP MP Lallu Singh by a margin of 54,567 votes.  Lallu Singh has received a total of 4,99,722 votes.

Meanwhile, Sachidanand Pandey of BSP is at the third position with 46,407 votes.

Awadhesh Prasad is one of the veteran leaders of SP. He got elected to the legislative assembly for nine times and has become minister six times. He is the incumbent MLA of Milkipur.

Lallu Singh is a heavyweight politician and stalwart candidate. He got elected from Faizabad in 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He served as the MLA of Ayodhya Legislative Assembly for a long term. He represented Ayodhya assembly constituency from 1991 to 2012.

Faizabad has become politically important constituency since Ram Temple resides in the region. The construction of Ram Temple has been the focal point in BJP campaigns to consolidate major Hindu votes.

In 2009, Nirmal Khatri of Congress emerged winner in the constituency. However, in 2014, Lallu Singh won the seat with a margin of 2,82,775 votes against Mitrasen Yadav.  In 2019 elections, though Lallu Singh secured his seat by receiving 5,92,021 votes, SP’s Anand Sen succeeded in reducing the margin to 65,447.
