The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will begin on June 24 and will conclude on July 3, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday. The 264th session of the Rajya Sabha will also star on June 27 and will conclude on July 3.
The first three days of the session will witness the newly elected leaders taking oath or election of Speaker and President’s address. President Droupadi Murmu will address the joint sitting of the two houses; i.e., Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on June 27. After President’s address, PM Modi is expected to introduce his council of ministers to the Parliament.

Besides, the Lok Sabha speaker will be also elected after the commencement of the parliamentary session. Usually, the Speaker is elected in the first meeting of the members of the lower house. The reports cite that Speaker’s posts will be allotted to the NDA alliance partners. In the election, the major allies, Chandrababu Naidu‘s TDP, and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has won 16, and 12 seats, respectively.
There are also reports that in the debate on the Motion of Thanks on President’s address, opposition will aggressively attack the NDA government on various issues and Prime Minister will respond to the debate in both the Houses of Parliament.

Reportedly, the full Union Budget is expected to be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 22. It was on February 1 an interim Budget was presented by the Minister ahead of the General Elections.
In the recently-concluded Lok Sabha polls, out of the 543 parliamentary seats, BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 294 seats and Opposition’s INDIA bloc garnered 234 seats.
