Narendra Modi took oath on Sunday as the India’s Prime Minister for a third term. He is the second minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to achieve the remarkable milestone of a third consecutive term.

The ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi was attended by eminent dignitaries including leaders from neighbouring Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

According to media reports, the newly-formed Cabinet will hold its first meeting on Monday evening at the Prime Minister’s Lok Kalyan Marg residence.

In the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP has received 240 seats, in the total of 543-member house. As the party falls 32 short of forming majority, partners in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) assisted in crossing 272 majority mark, and reaching 293 seats.

On June 5, the NDA unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader.
