‘Justice’ Is The ‘Soul’ Of The Congress Manifesto: Rahul Gandhi At Massive Telangana Rally

Edited by Dileep Kumar S

Hyderabad, April 6: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today said that the idea of justice is the soul of the party’s election manifesto. He said it had been drafted on the basis of the feedback of people from across the country.

“We listened to your heart and drafted the manifesto”, Mr Gandhi said, while releasing the ‘Nyay Patra’ (manifesto) here today, he said that that once the Congress forms government at the centre, “there will be no family left in the country with less than Rs one lakhs income every year”.

The former Congress president said, while the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working for just 3-4 percent rich people, the Congress had prepared a manifesto for every Indian. He said, this will prove to be a revolutionary manifesto that will change the face of India.

He pointed out, the people of Telangana know that whatever the Congress party promises, it fulfills all of them, citing the example of the state where it has fulfilled the promises it made before the assembly elections like providing jobs, free bus travel or gas cylinders for Rs 500 each.

Expressing confidence that the Congress party will win the 2024 General Elections, he said, Prime Minister Modi may have investigating agencies like the CBI, ED and Income Tax on his side, but the Congress has truth and people on its side and victory eventually is always of the truth and the people.

Describing the ED as “Extortion Directorate”, he pointed out how the BJP government uses it to intimidate people and business houses to pay hefty donations to the BJP. He said, while the BJP had amassed huge wealth, it had frozen the bank accounts of the Congress party. But, he asserted, the Congress party will not be intimidated as it has power of people and the power of truth with it.

Listing the ‘Paanch Nyay”, he said, these include the ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Kisan Nyay’, ‘Nari Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’ and ‘Hissedari Nyay’ (justice for youth, farmers, women, labourers and justice of participation).

Mr Gandhi said, under ‘Yuva Nyay’, every youth in the country will have an assured job and income in the first year after completing his/her graduation with a guaranteed income of Rs one lakh for the first year through apprenticeship in public sector, private sector, medical or educational sector.

Under ‘Nari Nyay’, one woman in every poor family across the country will receive Rs one lakh every year. This, he pointed out, means that there will be no family left in India, which has less than Rs one lakh income every year. He said, this is going to be a revolutionary step and will change the face of India.

For the farmers, under ‘Kisan Nyay’, he said, they will get a legal guarantee on MSP which will be fixed on the basis of Swaminathan formula. Besides, he added, farmers’ loans will be waived off. He said, while Prime Minister Modi waived off Rs 16 lakh crores loans of a few richest Indians, he did not waive of a single penny of loan of farmers. He said, on an average 30 farmers were committing suicide in India every day.

One of the important features of the ‘Sharmik Nyay’ will be a minimum daily wage of Rs 400.

Last, but not the least, he said, was the most important guarantee of ‘Caste Census’, which will be an X-ray of the socio-economic conditions in the country. He said, right now, there were gross disparities in the distribution of power, wealth and resources in the country. He said, once the Congress forms government, Caste Census followed by financial and institutional survey will be carried out for equal distribution of resources in the country.

Mr Gandhi mentioned how the former Chief Minister was spying on people and tapping their phones. He disclosed that he got all the records destroyed and even got the computers thrown into the river. He said the new Telangana government was already in action.
