KC Venugopal Files Defamation Complaint Against BJP’s Sobha Surendran

Congress General Secretary and candidate from Alappuzha Lok Sabha seat, KC Venugopal has filed a complaint against his rival BJP candidate Sobha Surendran.

The Congress leader has lodged a defamation complaint against Sobha Surendran at the Alappuzha South Police. In the complaint, KC Venugopal alleges that BJP candidate has made defamatory remarks against him during a recent television appearance.

In the television programme, Shobha Surendran alleged that KC Venugopal accumulated wealth by associating with the mining mafia. BJP leader states that Congress leader earned nearly 1000 crores through benami transactions. She accused that Venugopal colluded with former Rajasthan Coal Minister and engaged in international transactions. However, Congress leader dismissed the allegations as baseless.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Sobha Surendran has welcomed Congress secretary’s legal suit and said that the allegations were made based on the evidence she possess. She reiterated her accusations against KC Venugopal.

For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has fielded 16 candidates from Kerala and it includes Rajmohan Unnithan, K Sudhakaran, Shafi Parambil, Rahul Gandhi, MK Raghavan, VK Srikantan, Remya Haridas, K Muraleedhadan, Benny Behanan, Hiby Eden, Dean Kuriakose, KC Venugopal, Kodikkunnil Suresh, Anto Antony, Adoor Prakash and Shashi Tharoor.
