Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), May 25: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scared and panic stricken and that is the reason he was talking in strange ways.
She said, Modi seems to have forgotten that he was the Prime Minister of the country and he had lowered the dignity of the position of the Prime Minister.
Addressing the ‘Nyay Sankalp Sabha’ along with former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Ms Gandhi said, never ever in the history of the country had any Prime Minister used the language Modi was using. She said, Modi had lowered the dignity of the position of the Prime Minister.
She said, Modi was talking in such a way that he was getting exposed day by day. “I want to tell him that you are the Prime Minister of the country please don’t expose yourself to such a level”, she urged the Prime Minister, while adding, he has forgotten that he is the PM of the country and he has lowered the dignity of the position of the Prime Minister.
Ms Gandhi referred to the statements of some BJP leaders and candidates who have been openly saying that they will change the constitution. She said the BJP was trying to snatch away the rights of people, their reservations and even their voting rights, which they must not be allowed to do. She urged people to be alert and vote carefully.
The Congress general secretary pointed out that unemployment in the country right now was highest in 45 years and Prime Minister Modi had never spoken about it. Nor had he ever spoken on inflation, which had made the survival of people difficult. “For three months Modi has been campaigning, but did you ever hear him talk about these issues?” she asked, while referring to his silence on the two pressing issues facing the country.
Listing some of the guarantees her party has promised, which will be fulfilled after the INDIA bloc forms government at the centre, she said, to address the issue of unemployment, all fresh graduates and diploma holders will be provided one year apprenticeship with an assured income of Rs one lakh for that period.
She said, every poor family will be provided Rs 8500 every month. Besides, Asha and Angawadi workers’ income will be doubled.
There will be a corpus fund of Rs 5,000 crores for the young entrepreneurs.
For farmers, she said, there will be legal guarantee on the MSP. Besides, she added, their loans will be waived off. A debt relief commission will also be set up.
Expressing her profound gratitude to the people, Ms Gandhi said she had noticed an unprecedented synergy between the workers of the Congress and Samajwadi Party who are all fighting this battle together.
