As per the reports from the Nagina Lok Sabha constituency, Azad Samaj Party (ASP)-Kanshi Ram leader and Bhim Army founder Chandrashekhar Azad is leading over 107249 votes. In a four-cornered contest, BJP candidate Om Kumar is trailing behind. Meanwhile, SP’s Manoj Kumar and BSP’s Surendra Pal Singh are also at third and fourth position, respectively.
Chandrashekhar Azad with his four-year-old party is contesting his debut Lok Sabha polls with teapot symbol. Though talks were held between INDIA and ASP, they did not come to fruition since SP refused to agree to Azad’s demand for Nagina’s seat and offered him Agra or Bulandshahr instead. Prior to this, Azad made many efforts to forge an alliance with the BSP as well.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Nagina seat was won by BSP candidate Girish Chandra with a margin of 166832. In the election, BJP sitting MP Dr Yashwant Singh lost the seat by 166832 votes.
The polling for Nagina was held on April 19 (Phase 1).
