BJP Hit Hatrick In Lakhimpur With The Win Of Pradan Baruah

In the Lakhimpur constituency, Pradan Baruah won the race with a margin of 2,01,257, turning the constituency into the stronghold of the BJP. This election has marked his third consecutive win in the constituency on a BJP ticket since his entry through the 2016 by-election.

In this election, the BJP candidate Pradan Baruah secured 6,63,122 votes, whereas Udhay Shankar Hazarika on the Congress ticket bagged 4,61,865 votes.

Pradan Baruah made his entry to the political arena through, the by-election held in 2016, Had also served as a Member of Parliament of this constituency in 2016, prompted by the resignation of the incumbent MP, Sarbananda Sonowal, who assumed the role of Chief Minister of Assam in 2016. 

Starting from the Indian National Congress, Baruah made his move to BJP alongside Himanta Biswa Sarma, ahead of the 2016 assembly elections. Before his parliamentary tenure, Baruah held a seat in the Assam Legislative Assembly, representing the Dhemnji Assembly constituency. Pradhan Baruah who is a quietly influential MP, representing Lakhimpur has consistently shown a deep commitment to public service in his political career.  

Lakhimpur the constituency marked the political dynamics between the Congress party and AGP for decades until the entry of the BJP in 2014 with the victory of Sarbanada Sonowal. Through the victory in this election, the BJP had rooted itself in the Lakhimpur constituency.
