Transgenders And Sanitation Workers Among Special Guests Invited To PM Modi's Oath Ceremony

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held on Sunday, several sanitation workers, labourers, and transgender people involved in the Central Vista Project have been reportedly invited to the event.

Among the special guests who have received the invitation are railway employees working on Vande Bharat and Metro projects, ambassadors of the “Viksit Bharat,” and beneficiaries of the Modi government’s schemes.

The oath-taking ceremony of PM Modi will be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 9. According to reports, more than 8,000 guests will be attending the event.

Following a recent meeting with all the NDA leaders in Delhi, Narendra Modi was unanimously elected as their leader. Of the many leaders from South Asia who have also been extended invitations, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have confirmed their attendance, according to NDTV.

Reportedly, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, and Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay have also been invited to the event.

Previously, leaders of the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) nations attended PM Modi’s oath-taking ceremony in 2014. In his second oath ceremony, several leaders of the BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries also attended.

Securing 240 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to secure a majority on its own, however, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won 293 out of the total 543 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
