NDA Leaders Elect Narendra Modi As Alliance Leader

All the NDA leaders have unanimously elected Narendra Modi as their leader in the proposal passed by the leaders of the alliance in Delhi. This has, for now, ended the speculations about the possible link ups of JD(U) and TDP with the Opposition INDIA alliance for government formation. Senior leaders from both the regional parties have also attended the meeting.

In the Lok Sabha results announced yesterday, NDA’s prepoll alliance, consisting of BJP, TDP, JDU, Shiv Sena, LJP, Janasena, RLD, NCP, AGP among others, has secured 294 seats surpassing the absolute majority of 272 to form a government. BJP, coming down from its previous numbers, have secured 240 seats in total. In the earlier two elections, riding on a Modi wave, BJP had managed to bag more than 300 seats.

The meeting was attended by outgoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, outgoing union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and other alliance leaders.

Apart from BJP’s leaders, leaders like Chandrababu Naidu (TDP), Nitish Kumar (JDU), Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena) , HD Kumaraswamy (JDS), Chirag Paswan (LJPRV), Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM), Pawan Kalyan (JSP), Sunil Tatkare (NCP), Anupriya Patel (ADS), Jayant Chaudhary (RLD), Praful Patel (NCP), Pramod Boro (UPPL), Atul Bora (AGP), , Indra Hang Subba (SKM), Sudesh Mahto (AJSU), Rajiv Ranjan Singh (JDU) and Sanjay Jha (JDU) have also participated in the meeting.

Earlier, Narendra Modi has visited the President of India Droupadi Murmu to tender his and the council of ministers resignation, a technical formality before the formation of the next government after Lok Sabha election results are announced. Reports have said that the Mr Modi’s swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister of India (his third term) will be held on June 8.
