Not Boycott Or Ban, It Is Non-Cooperation Movement Against Hatred: Congress On Not Attending Shows Of 14 News Anchors

After facing backlash from the journalists” community and political parties, Congress, the main constituent of the Opposition INDIA bloc, today stated that the decision to not attend the shows hosted by 14 news anchors from Hindi and English media is not a boycott or ban but a non-cooperation movement against hatred.

“We have not banned anyone; we have not boycotted anyone or we have not blacklisted anyone. This is a non-cooperation movement, we will not cooperate with anybody who is spreading hatred in the society,” Congress leader Pawan Khera said while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad ahead of the Congress Working Committee meeting.

The Congress leader said the alliance does not want to be partners in crime of spreading hatred in the society, alleging that anchors conduct shows those spread hatred.

“We are not stopping them from spreading hatred. You want to spread hatred… go ahead (and) do it. You have a freedom to do it. We also have a freedom to not to be partners in that crime,” he said.

Mr Khera has also said the alliance will start attending the shows of anchors including Arnab Goswami, Navika Kumar, Sudhir Chaudhary and Shiv Aroor, “if they realise that what they were doing is not good for India and the society.”

“They are not our enemies. We do not hate any of them. We may have out compulsions. Nothing is permanent, if tomorrow they realise that what they were doing is not good for India, not good for the society, believe me, we all are together in this, and we will again start attending their shows. So, do not call it a ban,” he added.


In a statement released on Thursday, the INDIA alliance has said yesterday that the representatives of the alliance will not participates in the shows hosted by Aditi Tyagi (Bharat Express), Aman Chopra (News 18 Hindi), Amish Devgan (News 18 Hindi), Anand Narasimhan (News 18 English), Arnab Goswami (Republic TV), Ashok Shrivastav (DD News), Chitra Tripathi (Aa Tak), Gaurav Sawant (India Today), Navika Kumar (Times Now), Prachi Parashar (India TV), Rubika Liaquat (Bharat 24), Shiv Aroor (India Today), Sudhir Chaudhary (Aaj Tak) and Sushant Sinha (Times Now Navbharat).
