Stories from Gaza are beyond what can be deciphered by those outside the battlefield. Among thousands of gut-wrenching images and videos that has been emerging from the Strip, story of Mohammed Abu Al-Qumsan might hit many to an unknown depth.

Mohammed left his tent to fetch birth certificate for his four-days old twins, Asser and Aysel (son and daughter), at a local government office. He came back with the certificates only to witness the place reduced to bloodied ashes, killing his beautiful babies, wife Jumana Arafa Abu al-Qumsan, and her mother, Rim Jamal al-Batraoui.

Videos from the scene shows Mohammed writhing with inconceivable grief at the loss of his two angels. He screamed that he did not even get enough time to celebrate their birth. The tear-stained, grief-stricken face of Mohammed will be forever imprinted in hearts of millions, and as the Palestinians say, the murder will never be forgotten and forgiven.

Speaking with Middle East Eye (MEE), Mohammed said he and his family sought refuge in the school which the Israeli army designated as “safe”. The school was situated in Deir Al Balah of central Gaza Strip. Mohammed and his family were following the Israeli army’s instructions to evacuate Gaza City.

Like almost over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, this is not the first time Mohammed has been displaced in search for a safe space.

The attack was one of the numerous that have turned family shelters into a grave yard. IDF (Israeli Defence Force) usually preach that it aims to avoid civilian casualties and places the blame on Hamas for operating in densely populated areas. It had targeted many UN shelters and schools in the name of Hamas operatives.

However, even after ten months of unleashing the most brutal war, Benjamin Netanyahu and his forces could not provide credible proof to their void claims. The targeting of civilians continue.

On Saturday, IDF hit another school at the dawn. Over 100 Palestinians, who gathered for morning prayer were shattered to pieces. Images and video footages from the scene cannot be watched without getting sick to the stomach.  The depth of IDF barbarity was unfathomable.

After the massacre, Palestinians had to pick up the body parts piece by piece. They collected them in plastic bags for burial.

Scenes from Gaza are harrowing and mind numbing. Children and adult alike are bathed in blood. Video footages from hospitals and sites of attacks showed children, women, elderly, and men with hanging limbs, huge injuries and blood gushing out.

Gaza is now everything gory and haunted. Decaying bodies, and skeletons can be seen shattered across the streets from where Israel asked Palestinians to evacuate to “safer place”.

The war started on October 7th 2023, when Hamas launched and unprecedented attack on Israel. over 1200 Israelis were killed. Hamas, the resistance group of Gaza, took some 250 Israelis as hostages.

Nearly 40,000 Palestinians were killed by Israeli army so far, and thousands are injured, as Gaza Health Ministry.

Despite advanced technological assistance and munitions, mainly sourced from its closest ally, US, Israel still could not exactly pin point the locations of the hostages, and cannot achieve their ground invasion goals. Hamas is putting up strongest fights. Experts say that intensity of  IDF’s brutality can be equated with the frustration of not attaining its goals.
