Sunita Kejriwal’s Hush-Hush Pune Meet With Sharad Pawar Keeps Media Guessing

Jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, made a discreet visit to Pune on Sunday to meet Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar. The details of the visit were kept under wraps, and even Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members in Pune seemed unaware, while the media was kept at a distance, Indian Express reported.

Accompanied by AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Sunita Kejriwal arrived in Pune in the afternoon and had a private 45-minute discussion with Pawar at his office later that evening. She did not address the media before heading back to Delhi.

AAP Pune spokesperson Mukund Kirdat told The Indian Express that he had no details regarding her visit or the meeting. Another AAP leader speculated that the discussion may have centred around Arvind Kejriwal’s bail hearing scheduled for August 23, related to the Delhi excise policy case.

The conversation might also have touched upon the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, and the delay in Maharashtra’s polls. There is speculation that AAP intends to field candidates in Mumbai.

The leader added that Sunita Kejriwal will be AAP’s chief election campaigner in Haryana which votes for the new state government on October 1. The meeting could have involved talks about a potential alliance in Haryana and Maharashtra. Both AAP and NCP (SP) were part of the INDIA bloc for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
