"Filtered Water": AAP Accuses BJP Of Creating Artificial Yamuna For PM Modi’s Chhath Holy Dip

New Delhi: As Chhath celebrations entered the second day on Sunday, members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have launched an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the ruling Delhi Government of building an artificial ghat filled with filtered water specifically for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ceremonial dip on the occasion of Puja.

In a press conference, AAP’s Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the BJP built an artificial pond along the Yamuna, filled with filtered water from the Wazirabad treatment plant pipeline that supplies Delhi’s drinking water so that “the Prime Minister can take a dip for cameras.”

As Prime Minister Modi is expected to take part in the Chhath celebrations in the national capital today, the allegations have triggered a political flashpoint.

However, countering the AAP’s allegations, the BJP hit back, calling them a “shameful example of political frustration.” The saffron party claimed that AAP is opposing the cleaning of the Yamuna” ahead of the festival.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva stated that this is the first-ever political drama in which an opposition leader raised objections against the government’s efforts to ensure cleanliness and sanitation, while referring to Bhardwaj’s video from the Yamuna banks.
