After a video from Indore went viral in which a model was seen riding a bike with a Zomato delivery kit, Deepinder Goyal, Managing Director and CEO of the popular online food delivery service, said his company has no connection with the video. Mr Goyal, who is an active presence on social media, has also said the company does not endorse helmet-less biking as shown in the video.
Earlier, an X handle had shared the video of the model riding a bike as the passerby looking at her and she stopping the bike at a point for some time. Like any other video which has virality, this video has also gone viral with the claims of “Zomato’s marketing stunt”.
“Indore #Zomato marketing head had this idea. He hired a model to drive around with an empty zomato bag for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. Zomato is on a roll…,” a verified X handle of one Mr Rajiv Mehta posted on Elon Musk owned microblogging platform.

Responding to the stunt, Mr Goyal also said his company does not have a “Indore Marketing Head” after adding that the video seems to be someone just “free-riding”.
“Hey! We had absolutely nothing to do with this. We don’t endorse helmet-less biking. Also, we don’t have a “Indore Marketing Head”. This seems to be someone just “free-riding” on our brand. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with women delivering food – we have hundreds of women who deliver food everyday to earn a livelihood for their families, and we are proud of their work ethic,” Mr Goyal wrote on his X handle.

Before Mr Goyal”s clarification, many X users had commented on the Indore video asking the food delivery service company to make safety a preference.
