Zomato has launched Xtreme for its customers and other merchants. This would be the multinational restaurant aggregator and for Zomato’s foray into logistics services. Of now, Zomato has above three lakh delivery partners under Xtreme. Through the Xtreme app, merchants can track live, their shipments and their food deliveries.

In a move to diversify its revenue, and to put better use to its network of delivery partners, Zomato has launched Xtreme service, allowing, the transportation of small parcels both the sides. The company’s white label logistics could pose an alternative to Shadowfax, Loadshare and Dunzo, moneycontrol said.

On this, Zomato’s home page read, “Xtreme simplifies the entire delivery process, making it easy for merchants to send packages to their valued customers. Whether you”re a small shop or a large retailer, we”ve got you covered.”

As for now, the Xtreme app of Zomato is available only for Android users. It does not feature on the Apple use and it is not clear whether an Apple version would be made available later. With price starting at Rs.35, and the parcel weighing up to 10 kilograms, merchant woul be able to send only intra-city packages.

Swiggy, which is considered to be Zomato’s rival also has a hyperlocal service for delivery called Genie. Genie is available for Swiggy users for receiving and sending delivery packages.

With the onboarding of Xtreme, Zomato will be posing alternatives for Dunzo’s B2B arm called Dunzo For Business (D4B), LoadShare, Wefast, Blowhorn and many other such services. Many other portals such as Porter, Ola and Uber also has such services on offer which are not just limited to businesses. In the last few months, Zomato’s B2B has been made use of by companies such as Tata 1 mg health store, an e-pharmacy.

Tata 1mg’s chief operating officer Tanmay Saksena had said, “Zomato has been able to help with last-mile deliveries but we’re looking at more partnerships that are not full of uncertainties because in Zomato’s case, our order timelines might get affected by a spike in food orders.”

The launch has been scheduled at a time when Zomato has posted a net profit of Rs. 2 crore in its Q1 for financial year 2024. A year ago, the profits registered were Rs 2,416 crore, a 70.9 percent up, based on inflation cooling down, and the company’s loyalty programmes strengthening, demand growth had found new energy.
