Actress Wamiqa Gabbi has been making waves on the internet since the announcement of Varun Dhawan’s cop story Baby John. Wamiqa, who essayed her role as Tara in Varun Dhawan’s cop story, has showcased her talent across Punjabi, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam films. Notably, she began her career as a child artist with a brief role in the Bollywood classic Jab We Met as Kareena Kapoor’s cousin. After experiencing a series of commercial setbacks, she bounced back with a powerful role as a lawyer in the Punjabi crime drama Kali Jotta.

One of the notable works of the Baby John actress was her spectacular performance in the Amazon Prime Series directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Jubliee, a Hindi language period drama also starring Sidhant Gupta, Aparshakti Khurana, Aditi Rao Hydari, among others. Capturing hearts with her amazing acting prowess, she also won the Best Actress in a Drama Series award at the 2023 Filmfare OTT Awards for her role as the complex Niolfer Qureshi.

Interestingly, the actress bagged the role of Niolofer after Motwane saw her reels. In an interview with Sucharita, the director revealed that it was down to two contenders for Nilofer’s role, Motwane chose the other actor over Wamiqa but before shooting, the pandemic happened. He said that he stumbled on Wamiqa’s profile, checked out her reels was impressed with the drama she bought to them. Motwane then took the decision of casting her and told the actor he had finalised that things have fallen through.
