Aitana Bonmati Wins 2024 Ballon d'Or Feminin Second Year In A Row

FC Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati has won the 2024 Ballon d’Or Feminin award. This is the second year in a row the Spanish woman footballer is bagging the most important prize in the world football.

This is the second individual award FC Barcelona taking home this year. In an earlier announcement, Lamine Yamal, the 17 year old footballing wonder from FC Barcelona, was awarded Kopa Trophy.

Aitana Bonmatí, born on January 18, 1998, is a Spanish professional footballer of Catalan origin who plays as a midfielder for FC Barcelona and the Spain women’s national team. Known for her creativity, technical skill, and vision, Bonmatí is regarded as one of the top midfielders in women’s football.

Bonmatí has been a pivotal part of Barcelona’s success in recent years. She played a key role in helping the club secure multiple domestic titles, including the Liga F and Copa de la Reina, as well as the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Her ability to dictate the tempo of games, combined with her passing range and goal-scoring capability, makes her a versatile and influential presence in midfield.

At the international level, Bonmatí shone during Spain’s triumph in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, earning the Golden Ball award for the tournament’s best player. Her performances were lauded for their consistency and leadership on the field, contributing significantly to Spain’s first-ever World Cup victory.
