Following their French Open triumph, World No.1 men”s doubles pair Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will shift their focus on the All England Open Badminton Championships 2024, scheduled to get underway in Birmingham, from Tuesday.

Chirag and Satwik will vie to become the first-ever Indian men”s doubles pair to win the title at the All-England Open. The BWF World 1000 event is arguably one of the most prestigious tournaments in the badminton calendar. Prakash Padukone (1980 men’s singles) and Pullela Gopichand (2001 men’s singles) are the only two Indians who have won the All-England Open title.

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will once again lead the challenge for India in the women”s singles. It will be her second appearance in a BWF World Tour event after the French Open. The Hyderabad shuttler will face early challenges in the competition as she is set to take on World No.1 and defending champion An Se Young of the Republic of Korea as early as in the second round.

Meanwhile, in the men”s singles, HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and Priyanshu Rajawat will be in focus at the prestigious event. Srikanth will have his task cut out early in the event as he faces world No. 1 and reigning Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen in the first round.

The All England Open 2024 has qualifying points for Paris 2024 at stake.
