Asian Champions Trophy 2023: India Beat Malaysia In Final

India reaffirmed its supremacy over Hockey in the Asian Champions Trophy 2023 final, on Saturday. The boys were deservingly crowned Champions by beating Malaysia 4-3 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai. 

This is India’s record-fourth Asian Champions Trophy. It helps the nation to solidify its dominant position in Asian Hockey as well as its unwavering commitment to the sport. 

“Yet another shining moment for Indian hockey! Kudos to the Indian Men’s Hockey Team for their outstanding victory at the Asian Champions Trophy!”, wrote Sachin Tendulkar in X (formerly Twitter).

“A stellar performance against Malaysia that made the nation beam with pride”, said Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, and Information and Broadcasting. 

“Every dribble, every goal, every moment showcased the spirit of our nation. Proud of our hockey warriors!”, added Mr Thakur. 

In the first quarter of the game, it was Jugraj Singh who scored and led India by the score 1-0. But soon Malaysia”s Kamal Abu Arzai equalised to make it 1-1. 

It was in the second quarter, Razie Rahim converted a penalty corner and made it 2-1 for Malaysia. In the late part of the match, Aminudin Muhamad struck a penalty corner and made it 3-1. 

The luck went with India in the third quarter where Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty stroke to make the score 2-3 and then Gurjant equalised. 

It was Akashdeep who made it 4-3 and helped India to claim the record-fourth ACT title. 

“Despite facing a challenging situation, the team demonstrated resilience and strategic brilliance to secure remarkable comeback win with a scoreline of 4-3”, reported the Times Now. 

The team entered the finals of the Tournament after beating Japan by 5-0, on Friday.
