Hashika Ramachandra Breaks 13-Year-Old National Record

Hashika Ramachandra, an Indian swimming sensation, broke a 13-year-old National Record during the 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024 at the International Aquatic Complex in Mangaluru.

The 16-year-old broke the previously held record by Richa Mishra at 4:25.76 by clocking 4:24.70 in the Women’s 400m Freestyle event to finish ahead of Telangana’s Vritti Agarwal (4:25.09).

Meanwhile, in the Men’s 400m Freestyle event, Aneesh S Gowda claimed the top spot with a timing of 3:56.59. His state compatriot Dharshan S took the second spot while clocking a timing of 4:01.39.

In the Men’s 200m Breaststroke event, Dhanush Suresh from Tamil Nadu finished top, with a timing of 2:18.85 while Manikanta L from Karnataka took the second spot with a timing of 2:20.66.

Karnataka’s Thanya Shadakshari touched the pads first at 2:40.54 in the Women’s 200m Breaststroke event while Maharashtra’s Jyoti Bajirao Pati, clocked 2:42.01, to take the second spot.

Akash Mani from Karnataka took the top spot with a timing of 56.15 in the Men’s 100m Backstroke event while Rishabh Anupam Das from Maharashtra completed second at 57.28.

Bengal’s Soubrity Mondal took the pole position in the Women’s 100m Backstroke at 1:05.51 while Odisha’s Pratyasa Ray finished second, clocking 1:05.82.

Tamil Nadu’s B Benediction Rohit (24.22) edged out Mihir Ambre (24.37.) from Maharashtra in the Men’s 50, Butterfly event while in the Women’s 50m Butterfly competition, Mahi Swetraj from Bihar at 28.33 clinched the top spot while Manavi Varma of Karnataka finished second with a timing of 28.67.
