Karnataka CM Transition: DK Shivakumar Likely To Replace Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru, Karnataka: Karnataka might see chief minister transition soon, as part of the power-sharing agreement made earlier between chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar.
Both the Congress leaders met top Congress leadership on Tuesday in Delhi on Tuesday, following which Shivakumar was invited for breakfast by the chief minister at his residence today, May 27.

Notably, there is also reports that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is likely to become the chief minister of Karnataka as Rahul Gandhi sees KC Venugopal as the next party president, allowing a broader organisational reshuffle at the Centre.
Karnataka Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah could be offered a Rajya Sabha seat as part of a plan to step down as he may not be ready to accept his deputy DK Shivakumar as his successor.

The leadership change in Karnataka happens at a time when a strong anti-incumbency wave is expected in Karnataka ahead of the 2028 assembly elections. Hence, leaders from both political camps are pushing forward the name of DK Shivakumar to overcome the anti-incumbency and retain power in the state.
