The stage is set and the R Premadasa Stadium is buzzing as India Women take on Sri Lanka Women in the fourth ODI of the ongoing Women’s Tri-Series in Colombo on May 4.
Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and put India into bat, hoping the early conditions would favour her bowlers. But India, unfazed and unbeaten so far in the series, look well in control at 101/2 in 20.5 overs.
With two wins from two games, India came in as the table-toppers, while the hosts sit in second place, buoyed by a spirited victory over South Africa.

Both teams stuck with their winning combinations. For Sri Lanka, Malki Madara, the hero of the last match with four wickets, continues to be their pace spearhead, supported by a spin-heavy lineup including Inoka Ranaweera and Sugandika Kumari.
India’s innings started steadily after losing two early wickets, but Harmanpreet Kaur (14 off 24) and the stylish Harleen Deol (28 off 30) rebuilt smartly.
Deol, although lucky with a streaky boundary to third man in the 19th over, has looked fluent. The current run rate sits at 4.95, with the pitch offering some assistance to the spinners.

Kavisha Dilhari has just come into the attack, and although wicketless in her first over, she’s kept it tight with figures of 0/8. Rain is in the air, but so is the tension and anticipation.
