Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard backed Ishan Kishan”s decision to not participate in the domestic cricket after his omission from the national team. Pollard, a veteran of 100 T20I matches, said that playing international sports can be taxing and it is not as easy as people would think.
Kishan, incidentally, departed from the Indian team set up in December and since then has not featured in professional cricket. Team India head coach Rahul Dravid had advised him to participate in competitive cricket if he aims to make a return to the national side but there has been no signs of that.
“I don”t understand the controversial circumstances. You have stated clearly as to why he wasn”t playing so I guess we need to take that into consideration. Everything as a player and individual as well, playing international sports is very very tough, it”s not very easy as people would think,” Pollard said in the presser.
The Mumbai Indians opener was dismissed for a duck in the inaugural IPL 2024 clash against Gujarat Titans. However, Pollard backed him to do well in the upcoming matches.
