Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Raunak Sadhwani on his remarkable achievement at the FIDE World Junior Rapid Chess Championship 2023. Narendra Modi appreciated his strategic brilliance and skills which has left the world in awe on his official X handle.

17-year-old Raunak Sadhwani is one of the Nagpur’s brightest shining stars who has now added another jewel to his achievements by emerging as the U-20 World Junior Rapid Chess Champion in Italy on Friday.

On his way to World Championship, Raunak won eight rounds, suffered two losses and drew a board to top of the table pocketing 8.5 points. After winning over GM Arseniy Nesterov in the 10th and penultimate round, Raunak wrote the title in his name after beating Germany’s Tobias Koelle in final round and emerged as the Champion.

Five-time World Champion Vishwanath Anand too congratulated the young prodigy, “Congratulations Raunak, you have been playing such good chess the last few months. All the best” he wrote on X.
