Way Trump Controls Modi, Modi Controls Vijayan: Rahul Gandhi
ADOOR (KERALAM), March 30: Lashing out at the corruption and misgovernance of the Left Democratic Front government in Keralam, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today said that the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi was being controlled by the US President Donald Trump, the same way Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was being controlled by Prime Minister Modi and for the same reasons.
Addressing an election rally here today, Gandhi said that the BJP and the LDF were together fighting against the Congress. “There is a hidden hand of the BJP in Keralam elections working for the LDF”, he remarked, pointing out how the BJP government was not acting against the LDF people despite massive corruption in the state.
Gandhi noted that all those who oppose the BJP were harassed and intimidated, but why no action was being taken against the Keralam Chief Minister. He said he himself was facing 36 cases and had been interrogated for 56 hours. He said the BJP was supporting the LDF in Keralam as it knew that the LDF could challenge it at the Centre. “Everybody knows that the LDF leadership is corrupt. But there are no cases, no pressure, no threat from the BJP to them”, he pointed out.
Gandhi asked the Prime Minister why he was silent over what happened in Sabarimala Temple. He said the PM conveniently forgot that the Left Front leaders stole gold from Ayyappa temple and replaced it with brass. “This is because he does not want to damage the Left Front”, he noted while adding this showed that the Left Front and the BJP were together and Modi just did not care about Hinduism, religion or temples but only for votes.
The senior Congress leader assured that once the UDF forms the government in Keralam, those responsible for theft of gold from the temple would be punished.
He also took a dig at the Left Front government saying it was no longer a leftist party in its actions and policies as it was working like a “corporatist” regime dependent on big corporates, much like the BJP. He said even the Left Front workers would agree that their government is no more a leftist government; it is now supported and funded by the corporates. “The Left is about protecting workers from the market, but the LDF government in Keralam is not interested in protecting rubber workers. They don’t care”, he added.
The Leader of the Opposition reiterated his charge that Prime Minister Modi was compromised because of Epstein files and a case against Gautam Adani in the US. He pointed out how US President Donald Trump was repeatedly humiliating Modi and saying if he wants, he can finish Modi’s career but Modi does not say anything.
He said when he raised the matter in Parliament, the Prime Minister ran away and the BJP came with a ridiculous and laughable idea that women Congress MPs were going to attack the PM. “The truth is that Narendra Modi is compromised and controlled by Donald Trump and the same way Donald Trump controls Modi, Modi controls your Chief Minister”, he told the gathering, adding, “the same way the Prime Minister is controlled for his corruption and financial system, your CM is controlled for his financial system and his corruption”.
Gandhi also praised the spirit of unity and harmony in Keralam. He appreciated the fact that people belonging to different communities and religions live together and respect each other. “Disrespect, anger and hatred are not strengths; they are weaknesses”, he remarked, adding, “humility, love and respect are strengths”.
Maintaining that the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister were handing over Keralam to big corporates, he said that jobs in the state could be generated through small and medium industries.
He announced five guarantees of the UDF for the people of Keralam. These include free bus travel for women across the state, Rs 1000 monthly cash assistance to all college-going girls, an increase in welfare pension to Rs 3000 per month, health insurance cover worth Rs 25 lakh for every family, and interest-free loan of up to ₹5 lakh for youth to start their own businesses. He added that a dedicated ministry for senior citizens would also be created to ensure dignity, care and focused welfare for the elderly. He also expressed commitment to protect the rubber farmers and workers.
Among those who addressed the meeting were Congress general secretary in-charge of organisation KC Venugopal and other party leaders.
