Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, greatest football players of all time were famous for their iconic rivalry in the football history. The Portuguese player Ronaldo has now announced the end of this rivalry with his archenemy Messi.

“We are respected throughout the world, that’s the most important thing. He makes his way; I make mine even if we are playing outside Europe. He has done well from what I’ve seen and so have I,” said Ronaldo during Portugal’s press conference ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifier against Slovakia.

‘Ronaldo or Messi?’, this question kept the soccer fans busy over a decade. But according to Ronaldo the rivalry ended as he has moved to Saudi club Al-Hilal and Messi to Inter Miami in US.

“I don’t see things that way, the rivalry is gone. It was good, the fans liked it. Those who like Cristiano Ronaldo don’t have to hate Messi. They’re both very good, they changed football history,” the 38-year-old Ronaldo said.

While playing in Spain, this duo dominated the soccer world. Ronaldo’s and Messi’s golden moments of their career were mostly when they were part of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Ronaldo has won 5 Ballon d’Or while Messi managed to get seven. The pair has broken many goalscoring records, Messi ended his Barça career with a staggering 672 goals in 778 games while Ronaldo scored an astonishing 450 in 438 games for Real Madrid. Ronaldo had recently become the only player to score 850 goals.

38-year-old Portuguese player does not want to stop here and he aims to get into greater heights in his football career.

“It”s a historic landmark. For me it was a source of pride the numbers I achieved, which I didn”t think I could reach. But I want more. While playing the game, the bar has to be high, thinking big,” Ronaldo said.

So far Ronaldo scored 26 goals in 30 appearances for Al Nassr while Inter Miami has been unbeaten since the arrival of the Argentinan player. World cup winner joined Inter Miami in June as free agent after two seasons in PSG.
