'Skimpy Clothing', 'Too Hot': Luana Alonso Kicked Out Of Paris 2024

Young Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso, who has a lot of homegrown fans on her social media, was kicked out of Paris 2024 for inappropriate behavior.

As per a report in the Daily Mail, the Paraguayan swimmer was accused of “distracting other swimmers” by socializing with her “skimpy clothing”. The allegations were raised against her after she finished sixth in the Women’s 100m Butterfly event in Heat 1, failing to qualify for the final event.

“Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” Larissa Schaerer, the head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, said in a statement.

“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”

It has also been reported that after failing to make the cut on Day 1 of the event, she walked around the Paris 2024 Athletes’ Village in her own choice of clothing, rather than abiding by the rules and wearing the team kit provided by the Paraguayan Committee.

However, Alonso said that the reports of her being kicked out of Paris 2024 were not true, while also announcing her retirement.

“I just wanted to clarify that I was never kicked out or expelled from anywhere, please stop spreading false information,” she said in a statement on Monday. “I don’t want to make any statement but I’m not going to let lies affect me either.”

“It was my last race. I am retiring from swimming.”

The 20-year-old is a student at the Southern Methodist University in the US Dallas. She made her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020 at the age of 17, where she finished in the 28th position and failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
