He marvelously took down nine wickets with an outstanding average of just 8.44. After a five-wicket haul against New Zealand, his four-wicket haul in the last match has yet again produced a match-winning spell to lead India to top of the point table with their sixth win in the campaign.

An unfortunate injury to Hardik Pandya necessitated a rethink in the strategy and this has led to take Shardul Thakur out of the equation and Shami coming in Thakur’s place. And the strategy has worked out well. Shami’s inclusion in the game blew England away with another sensational spell.

At the Ekana International Cricket Stadium, the pressure was on Bumrah and Shami as India was defending only 229 for nine. But it seems they both have taken care of the game well. It was an electrical show displayed by the pair, if Bumrah doesn’t get you, Shami will.

With a total of 40 wickets in 13 innings, Muhammed Shami became the quickest to reach 40 ODI World Cup. He has also equalled Mitchell Starc with his sixth four-wicket haul.

While for England, for the first time they have suffered four consecutive losses in the World Cup. Continuing their unbeaten streak, the Men in Blue will face Sri Lanka in their next match on Thursday.
