Jasprit Bumrah, the team’s new captain and star pacer, left the field during the second session of Day 2 in the Sydney Test against Australia, as per Cricbuzz.
Bumrah had bowled eight overs, taking the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, but left the field after just one over in the post-lunch session. He was seen leaving the stadium, possibly to undergo scans, but the nature of the injury is still unknown.
Bumrah went to the hospital for scanning 🥲

Bumrah left the field after just one over in the post-lunch session. At that point, he had bowled 151.2 overs in the five Tests, with only Australia’s Pat Cummins having bowled more (152 overs).
Bumrah’s efforts had earned him 32 wickets at an average of 13.06, the highest in the series. However, his heavy workload, due to the team’s composition and lack of bowling options, had made him vulnerable to over bowling and increased the risk of injury.

In fact, Rohit Sharma had mentioned after the Melbourne Test that there was a risk of Bumrah being over bowled. “We’ve been very careful with him,” Rohit said. “I talk to him about how he feels, and we try to manage his workload carefully,” he said at the end Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
Bumrah’s injury is a concern for India, especially since they need to win the Sydney Test to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
It was on January 1st that the final Test was declared that Rohit Sharma wouldn’t play in the match and Jasprit Bumrah would take over as captain.
